My Testimony, Steve Avrus

I have been a member of the local churches since 1971. I am married and have three children and own my home and my own mortgage business since 1982. I have a bachelors’ degree in accounting.

I became a born-again regenerated Christian when I was 18 years old. I was born Jewish, but was not interested in the Jewish religion. I met some of the people from the church in Los Angeles in college and found them to be very proper and real people. This was what attracted me to go with them to the meetings of the church in Los Angeles. I attended their meetings for a couple of months, and my life began to change in a very positive way. I found the meaning and reality for my human life and I became a very satisfied person. I also attended some Bible trainings that were carried out by Witness Lee and always received much inspiration and encouragement from his messages. Then I began to commit my life to Christ and to attend more of Witness Lee’s semi-annual Bible trainings and to learn much more of the Bible. The Recovery Version of the New Testament Bible with the footnotes from Witness Lee is the greatest help in understanding the Bible. I always found his teachings to be very accurate and based absolutely on Scripture. I also found the practices of the local church to be according to the practices described in the New Testament. His messages always ministered Christ as life to me and helped me to grow very much in the spiritual life and to know Jesus Christ in a more personal and intimate way. His teaching also taught me how to be a proper member of the body of Christ and how I could participate in the building up of the body of Christ by speaking for God, speaking forth God and speaking God into others (1 Cor. 14). I also received much help on how to preach the high gospel to unbelievers. I can’t tell you how many benefits I have received from the ministry of Witness Lee and Watchman Nee. The benefits that I received in knowing the spiritual truths would take hours to explain. The benefits of knowing Christ as life and of having a proper uplifted humanity were always ministered to me through Witness Lee’s and Watchman Nee’s ministry. I received more benefit from Witness Lee as I was with him under his trainings for over 25 years, but I found that his speaking was exactly the same, in every way, as Watchman Nee’s. For anyone who is genuinely seeking to know the Bible or to know what God’s will and purpose are, I would strongly recommend checking out some of the writings of these two Christian brothers.
